Our next meeting will be on April 16th at Friendly Tap in Berwyn at 6:30 PM. With a lot of the local political activity slowing down a bit, we are planning on having 2 speakers.
Moms Demand Action, the Gun Reform Group organized after Sandyhooke, will be coming to speak on their organization, what they do, what they are currently focused on in Illinois, and how to get involved more in Gun Reform activity. There are many actions that can be done at a state level, so come and hear what you can do.
Ixchel will also be speaking at the meeting. If you are not familiar with them, check out their website.https://www.ixcheljusticia.org/. Ixchel develops grassroots leaders to help dismantle structural racism for racial equity in education and environmental justice as well as to ensure access to equitable resources in the Berwyn/Cicero area. One of the current projects they are involved in is the Little Village Collateral cleanup project that the Water Reclamation district is overseeing. We’ve asked them to speak about their organization, projects they are currently involved in in the area, and ways folks in the community can engage and help if desired. Oh and if you are bothered by the stink from the Stickney water reclamation facility, come and find out what the plans are to alleviate the odors stemming from that location.
In addition, we’ll discuss the results of the March 20th primary and what’s next.
Hope to see you all then
Marla, Lisa, Kathy
