We Need Resources Not Police Forces! (Resist Trump Tuesdays Chicago)

  • Kluczinski Federal Building 230 South Dearborn Street Chicago, IL, 60604 United States (map)

We oppose Trump's racist call to bring in the National Guard. We demand resources, not police forces and incarceration, for Chicagoans. People need living wage jobs, affordable housing, healthcare for all and fully funded public education.

We are also demanding an end to money bonds in Illinois. Right now, thousands of people accused of non-violent offenses are incarcerated in the Cook County Jail while they await trial simply because they are Black and too poor to afford to pay a money bond. People should be presumed innocent until proven guilty, not incarcerated for weeks or months while waiting for trial. The Equal Justice for All Act (HB 3421, sponsored by State Rep. Christian Mitchell) that would end cash bail for people accused of non-violent offenses.

We're asking Cook County Chief Judge Tim Evans: Which side are you on? Do you stand with Donald Trump and his racist law and order language or the people of Cook County counting on you to run a fair and just court system?
