March 8th Walk-out/Speak-out

  • University of Chicago Main Quad (map)

On March 8th at 12 noon we invite women, femme-identified folks, and *all who support them* to participate in a walk-out/speak-out at the center of the main quad. The Speak-out will highlight female-typed labor that is crucial to society but continues to go underpaid and unrecognized. Folks will then remain together and refrain from work for an hour (or however long they wish).

On this International Women's Day we take action in solidarity with people across the country and all over the world, and in response to the platform of - an internationalist call issued by and for all women who have been marginalized and silenced, including working women, women of color, Native women, disabled women, immigrant women, Muslim women, lesbian, queer and trans women, and for all those who wish to fight against the oppression of women.

We also urge people to attend the International Women's Day Rally at 6:30 pm (
