First Mondays: Bail Bond Reform

  • Heartland Cafe 7000 North Glenwood Avenue Chicago, IL, 60626 United States (map)

The The People's Lobby & Reclaim Chicago's Mass Incarceration Task Force will be presenting their Bail Reform Popular Education Series, to illustrate how our criminal justice system has criminalized poverty and disproportionately harms communities of color here in Chicago and across the country.

The People's Lobby is working on reforming the bail system in the state of Illinois. They believe bail doesn't prove that anyone is guilty of a crime but that they are guilty of being poor. In this popular education series, they will show how the system works, the analysis of the problem, and how we can fight back with a solution of our own. Come join us as we begin taking down one of the major pillars of our broken criminal justice system.

There will also be two brief Progressive Service Announcements from the Rogers Park Chamber of Commerce's Bill Morton regarding the Target Development & the Chicago Fine Arts Coalition's Mark Armstrong on his Cook County Amusement Tax campaign. This is sure to be an educational evening. Bring a pencil & paper, and remember to arrive early & that you can park in the Eugene Field Elementary School parking lot.
