  • Center on Halsted 3656 North Halsted Street Chicago, IL, 60613 United States (map)

Are post-election tensions rising in your community? Are you finding it difficult to talk politics with friends, family, your coworkers or neighbors? Come see award-winning filmmaker, Julie Winokur, present her documentary, Bring It to The Table, a fresh, provocative, often humorous, study of political identity and how to reach for true conversation, deliberation, civil debate, and social activism in an age of immobilizing partisanship and deeply dug-in beliefs. Join us for an evening of questions and answers, conversation, and live, interactive "table talks" that teach an engaging and effective method for sharing ones own beliefs and listening well to others.

Says Robert Brescia, Executive Director, John Ben Shepperd Public Leadership Institute, University of Texas of the Permian Basin -- “Julie Winokur is a rising star in the world of political discourse. Through her ground-breaking program, Bring it to The table, she delivers a one-two punch right on the nose of incivility. We need a lot more people as level-headed and caring as Julie in the new Americanism that we’re building in this country.”

Says Matt Miller, Texas Christian University, Class of 2016:
"Bring It To The Table provides a unique opportunity to showcase the political divide in America and what Americans can do to try to bridge the gap. The documentary was engaging and eye-opening and Julie demonstrates the 'table talks' in a manner that is optimistic, adaptable, and inquisitive."
