Expand Sanctuary in Chicago: Community Action Meeting

  • 2229 South Halsted Street Chicago, IL, 60608 United States (map)

Come learn about the campaign to expand sanctuary protections for all Chicago, and find out how you can organize in your neighborhood.

Right now, the campaign is focusing on moving forward amendments to Chicago's Welcoming City ordinance and a resolution regarding recommendations to changes for the Fraternal Order of Police union contract. Both policies have been introduced in city council and are awaiting a vote out of committee.

Chicago has a history of over-policing and criminalization, which has led to Chicago residents being killed, incarcerated, and put in deportation proceedings regardless of the police-ICE collaboration. Under unprecedented attacks against our communities from the federal government, the City of Chicago must also change the way it defends its residents.
