First Mondays: May Day!

  • Heartland Cafe 7000 North Glenwood Avenue Chicago, IL, 60626 United States (map)

Join us May 1st at 7 pm in the Heartland Bar (formerly Red Line Tap) to celebrate May Day & workers' rights. We'll kick the night off with a brief history lesson on the Haymarket Riot and move right into the here and now with talks from AFSCME Council 31's Legislative & Policy Researcher, Adrienne Alexander and Chicago Jobs With Justice's Executive Director, Susan Hurley. Socialist Alternative's Dustin Spence will give a report back from that day's May Day March and Loyola University Chicago PhD student Rick Gilbert will speak to the recent unionization of graduate student employees at Loyola!

Remember, we will be in the space formerly known as the RLT. Arrive early so that we can start on time, wear red (if you wish), bring a pen & pencil, come prepared with questions, and make sure to check out Socialist Alternatives' table at the event!
